Mastermind 419 takes its name from the 419 area code of Northwest Ohio, reflecting our commitment to cultivating leaders within our community. Founded on a simple conviction that leadership requires more than experience. Mastermind 419 equips and empowers leaders and high achievers to embrace complexity and uncertainty, practice contextual intelligence, and make wise decisions. Through meaningful collaboration and curated conversations, we engage excellence, sharpen perception, foster inspiration, and cultivate compassion. Growing our leadership capacity is our goal. The Bronze Bow in our icon, comes from the Old Testament, where David declares that God gives him the strength to "bend a bow of bronze"—a feat beyond human ability. It symbolizes the belief that leadership requires capacities we do not yet possess, but can be developed through faith, wisdom, and humility. While committed to the belief that the 419 is an epicenter of talent, our hope is to develop leaders whose influence extends far beyond it.

MASTERMIND GROUPS

CUSTOM WORKSHOPS

MINDSET MENTORING

At the heart of Mastermind 419 are our Table Groups—intentionally curated communities of five to eight vetted professionals committed to thinking sharper, seeing further, and leading better. Through facilitated discussions, collaborative problem-solving, challenging readings, and thought-provoking dialogue, members challenge assumptions, exchange perspectives, and explore real-world leadership complexities.
These are more than networking groups. It's a place where exceptional leaders sharpen one another.
Bring the Mastermind 419 experience directly to your workplace with Custom Workshops that are designed around your organization's unique leadership needs and development goals. Led by Mastermind 419 founder, Matthew Kutz, PhD, each workshop combines evidence-based insights, thought-provoking interaction, and ideas that challenge assumptions, expand perspectives, and strengthen team effectiveness.
These workshops are ideal for developing emerging leaders, equipping executives, or helping teams navigate complexity and change. These are more than professional development. It's an opportunity to think differently, grow together, and lead more effectively.
Exceptional leaders don't emerge by accident. They develop through intentional guidance, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to grow. Mastermind 419's Leadership Mentoring initiative focuses on two distinct groups: high-potential high school students and emerging young professionals who demonstrate exceptional promise but have yet to establish a long-term track record of leadership beyond entry-level responsibilities.
Through personalized mentoring, guided reflection, and exposure to experienced leaders, participants develop the contextual intelligence, confidence, character, and practical skills necessary to translate untapped potential into demonstrated leadership capacity.

A 300-Year Tradition

The concept of a mastermind group is rooted in a simple but powerful principle: No matter how talented, experienced, or accomplished an individual may be, the collective wisdom of several minds working together can accomplish more than any one person working alone. Although collaborative learning and advisory circles have existed for centuries, one of the earliest recognizable examples of a modern mastermind group dates to 1727, when Benjamin Franklin established the Junto Club in Philadelphia. The modern mastermind concept was popularized by Napoleon Hill in his influential books The Law of Success (1928) and Think and Grow Rich (1937). Hill described the Master Mind principle as the coordination of knowledge and effort among individuals working together toward a common purpose. He argued that intentional collaboration, mutual accountability, and access to diverse perspectives could expand an individual's capacity for achievement. The underlying principle has remained unchanged for nearly 300 years: When capable people intentionally bring their experiences, insights, and perspectives together, everyone at the table has the opportunity to become wiser, stronger, and more effective.
